News from the RDT Committee

NEWS IN BRIEF | RDT Committee for the swine industry (november 2018)

The Research, Development and Knowledge Transfer (RDT) Committee of the swine industry is expanding and now has 16 members from 12 companies/organizations.
Here are the new members who joined the team:
  • Yvan Fréchette, 1st Vice President of Les Éleveurs de porcs du Québec
  • Abida Ouyed, General Manager of Swine Innovation Porc
  • Éric van Bochove, RST Director, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
For Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Mr. Van Bochove replaces Ms. Isabelle Royer and Mr. Alain Giguère, who took turns taking part in the committee. For Les Éleveurs de porcs du Québec, Mr. Yvan Fréchette will replace Mr. David Duval. We would like to thank the outgoing members for their involvement.

Committee members are recognized for their knowledge or involvement in R&D in the swine industry. They actively participate in the fulfillment of the mandates established following the R&D Forum held on September 27, 2017.

FIRST PUBLIC COMMUNICATION FROM THE RDT COMMITTEE (FEBRUARY 2018)
The purpose of this committee is to improve the efficiency of RDT in the Quebec swine sector and it intends to direct its work based on the findings from the diagnosis presented at the R&D Forum on Pork Production held on September 27, 2017.

SECOND PUBLIC COMMUNICATION (AUGUST 2018)
Since the last communication, the members of the Research, Development and Knowledge Transfer Committee of the Quebec pork industry, named "RDT Committee for the Swine Industry", have met regularly. Discussions focused on the following topics:
  • Project to build a research, development and training maternity barn
  • Better alignment of research and development activities in Quebec, in the public and private sectors of the swine industry
  • Identification of research, development and innovation priorities for the Québec swine sector
  • Financial support for the RDT Committee
Two meetings are also planned in the Fall (November and December 2018)
