Objectives

Evaluate the past animal/livestock performances of sites in the ARC&E zones (productivity of sows, piglet mortality and feed conversion);
Compare (benchmark) performances between farms/operations/facilities according to their PRRS status (positive wild strain, positive and negative vaccine strain);
Create a directory of key measures proposed in the control plans;
Measure the amount of producer interest in the control plans;
Use technical data to simulate the economics of potential return on investment in the main (two) control plans:
  • Mass vaccination with a commercial vaccine against PRRS
  • Partial depopulation and herd closure
