Genetic improvement of swine for disease resistance

Genetics | Health and biosecurity

Aim / objectives:
Investigate disease resistance and immune response variability among individuals and families of individuals within different populations of animals (Duroc, Yorkshire, Landrace). Explain this variability based on different tests (immune response (PhamaGap), molecular genetics, hematological profile) in order to propose a strategy for identifying families of individuals (or boars) that are more resistant to disease and possibly improve resistance to swine diseases genetically.
